Woodlands is a non-smoking, private care home that caters exclusively for discerning elderly ladies. It's registered capacity is for 23 residents for whom 24-hour full personal care is provided by our NVQ-trained and highly experienced care team.
The home is located in the heart of Lexden, a desirable residential area within a short distance of the town centre and within walking distance of the exclusive boutique shops in Crouch Street. There is a frequent bus service, with a stop directly opposite the home, and car parking is also available within the grounds.
Woodlands occupies a luxurious period house providing modern comforts to aid mobility and promote independence including a professional nurse call system and a 6-person passenger lift. It features a large residents’ lounge, two conservatories and a reading room, which enable residents to enjoy quality tranquillity time. Residents are also free to wander safely in either of the mature woodland gardens where they can enjoy our protected trees, lawn areas and bluebells in springtime.
In addition, for our resident’s comfort and wellbeing, we have a hair salon and treatment room for use by our visiting professionals who include a hairdresser, an optician, a dentist and a chiropodist.
For our resident’s social requirements, there is a communal TV, DVD and video facilities, visits from clergy, musicians, entertainers, line dancers and an organist, a visiting library and daily newspapers. Other activities that can be arranged include shopping trips and visits to local places of interests.
Relatives and friends are always welcome to visit their loved ones and take them on personal excursions, provided Woodlands’ staff are made aware of their intended absence.
Residents have a varied choice of their daily meals that are cooked in traditional home-style using fresh local produce. Special diets can be catered for.
Above all, we try to promote a secure and happy environment so we listen and respond positively to our residents’ requests within health and safety regulations and common consensus.

At Woodlands, we believe that good food goes hand in hand with good health. All our meals are home-cooked in the main Woodlands kitchen, using produce which is fresh, seasonal and local. Wholesome and nutritious, our meals are prepared with care.
All mealtimes are flexible, and you can choose to eat in the dining room or in the privacy of your own room. Our menus are varied and there is plenty of choice. We will always accommodate your dietary needs and preferences. Wine is served with lunch and evening meals should you desire it, and a night bar is available.
We are delighted when family and friends can join you at Woodlands for a meal or special occasion and our rooms are popular venues for family celebrations.
